I removed my steering cable from my 91 ski brendella inboard because it was stiff. It was wrapped around the back of the steering wheel like a threaded screw.
I removed it from the ruder assembley and laid it on the floor. It was 16'8". I want to make sure I'm ordering the correct replacement. People are trying to sell me the whole assembley for around $200. All I need is the cable and bar at the end that attaches to the rudder assembley. Where do I order this to make sure I'm getting the correct part?

Re: steering cable

sokkerglass...iboats (www.iboats.com) has a wide selection of parts, they are the kind people running this message board for us.

i've never looked through their site for a steering cable so you should give that a shot. if that's no help, www.skidim.com is extremely helpful with old inboards. i have an '87 supra, i've been there.

your new cable can be a little longer than the old, you just don't want it any shorter.

kevin

Re: steering cable

Its really best to replace the whole system. Sounds like you have the rotary system. Look here.... web page However you can get just the cable for about 90.00 (Teleflex bought out Morse)
