I have a 1994 force 120. I have a Rack and pinion style steering and my cable went bad. I am looking for a replacement. I have found one here made by uflex, however the exixting one, at the rod end?? it starts off as a smaller diameter, then 4" later it steps up to a larger diameter. the ones that i have found appear to be the same diameter throughout. will this matter? secondly, i read that it would be easy and better to switch to a rotary system. is this as easy of a switch that the manufacturer makes out to be? is it better? cost wise... both run the same $. Anyone try this at home?

Re: steering change over

I think rotary is better.Bought a new Bayliner and within 1 year the R@P steering went(20 mi.out)
I changed to Hydrolic steering in 1990.I finnaly had trouble this year.It needed an o-ring on the helm. It's used on twin motors and the VERY best steering I believe.
More expensive but well worth it.J
