I have a 1971 Richline that I'm making some changes to. My motor is a 1958 Johnson 35 hp Super Seahorse RDSL-20. I'm wanting to do away with the cable steering and I've already learned that the transom support mounting kit at http://www.teleflexmorse.com/scripts/PDF/connection.pdf is what I need. That kit contains the support tube, clamp block, and clevis kit. On the other end of the steering, I already have a Teleflex Safe-T QC helm that came in a nice salvaged GIII dash I was able to acquire. Do I only need a steering cable to complete this puzzle? I've been looking online and ended up completely confused. I didn't realize there were so many different ways to steer a boat.
Thanks
Tom

Yes, You need a steering cable which connects the QC Helm to the support tube and then the motor. Ask the marine parts store(BoarUS, West Marine, or any boat dealer..) guy how to measure for the steering cable, since I cannot remember the formula. Buy the correct length cable and hook it all up!

Thanks Chris ... I've seen a couple of sites that show how to measure for the cable.
Tom
