Steering Conversion?

Hi all,

I am getting ready to buy another outboard for my boat. I currently have a 1976 55HP Chrysler. It has a fairly new steering system but it is the "stand off block" type. I think that is what it's called. Anyway, the engines I'm looking at are of the "tilt tube" variety (as most are).

Question: Since my steering setup is only 1 year old, is there some way to make my steering system work with a different outboard that has the tilt tube? Any conversion kits or something like that?

Thank you,

Shane

Re: Steering Conversion?

If you have a Teleflex or Morse steering setup, the only question would be, Is the cable long enough?

All you'll need to do is unscrew the cable from your current bracket's tube, and the cable should fit right in the tilt tube.. Only thing you'll need is a steering link arm...
