Steering Fluid

Hi All, Am new to this site and would appreciate any info I can get, First up I need to change the steering fluid on my 4.3 merc. inboard. the engine runs great for its age (20yr) so with the help of my manuals am doing the basic repairs myself oil filters leg oil impeller etc. Anyone got some advice on the steering fluid change would be helpful.

Ayuh,.... ATF works Just Fine....

I change it by removing the Return Line from the Pump, holding into a bucket, Start the motor, Then pour fresh oil into the Reservoir as it purges the old oil, til the new oil appears...
Reattach the return line,+ Your Done....

Just did this yesterday as a matter of fact and used Mobil 1 synthetic atf.

Nope,....

It's Not,... If your boat allows reasonably access to the Pump....

At Worst, it might require a 2nd Heartbeat to turn the steering wheel,.... Slowly, at idle....

It also helps if you have someone turning the steering wheel all the way to each side, as this will help flush out the whole hydraulic system.

I know I am lame, but I cant find the power steering pump on my Alpha One (Gen2)...

Btw,... You'll want to include Which motor you've got...
