Right now my steering cable is attached to my transom with a clamp. I know that my model outboard came with tilt tube steering. If I change this on my outboard, I'm assuming I need a new cable....yes? All info appreciated.

Re: Steering for my motor.

You may have enough slack in the existing cable to fit it through the tilt tube. Only way to know for sure is to disconnect the cable from the support tube and try to attach it to the tilt tube. If the cable fits, you will need a "link" to connect your motor. Teleflex says their cables have a minimum radius for bends of eight inches. Good luck!

EDIT: Here's a link to Teleflex's online library where you can read/download any instruction manual that applies to your steering system.
