I just bought a 1992 90 hp V4 Evinrude to be be mounted on an 18 foot boat which I'm in the process of building. I know the Teleflex mechanical helms are rated for certain horsepowers/speeds but I can't seem to find the ratings. I was wondering if the Teleflex Safe-T QC would be up to the task as this is the one the local shop has in stock. I'm thinking I should get somewhere around the 40-45 mph mark with this boat/motor.

Great forum by the way! Glad I found it!

Re: Steering help

Thanks.

I was looking at the NFB system as well, only thing is it's 4.2 turns of the wheel instead of 2. I'm not sure I would like this when it comes time to go murre hunting. (murres are a salt water bird, and yes you can hunt them from a power boat). 4.2 turns would be 8.4 from lock to lock wouldn't it?

Re: Steering help

Just looking through the tech pages you posted a link to and found just what I was looking for. I was thinking for some reason that the number of turns was from center to one side, they're not, lol. 4.2 is 4.2 turns from lock to lock, lol. Looks like I may be better of with the NFB 4.2, it's rated for a v-6 up to 55 mph so I should have no worries there.

Thanks for the help, for some reason I didn't come across those pages when looking at their site myself.
