steering mount is it ok

merry xmas every 1, i have just put a splashwell steering mount on my microplus 502, im not sure if its ok ? is the tube ment to move when the engine does ? the engine a mercury 50 moves ok but it looks a bit odd when the steering tube moves is the ball joint just to set angle of tube and hold tube tight

What I'm reading in Both of your posts,........
Sounds like it Should be that way........

If the Tube isn't mounted to the motor's tilt tube,......
It'll have to move to stay connected to the motor as It moves......

Mark the two points I noted in the pic should move freely to accomodate the changing angle of the steering tube when the engine not only turns but tilts also.

yes both parts move ok ,in the pic is the old mount but new 1 is the same just that the round fixing plate is smaller but the tube is the same thanks

mark the outer tube should be stable, not move, the inner shaft should move to turn the motor, the only movement in the ball joint is to tilt the motor.
