Never sold (or bought) a non tiller motor before, so not sure what the normal procedure is, but if I am selling a 1981, 70hp Johnson, do I remove and keep the steering rod, and the bar that goes from the end of the rod to the motor, but leave the tube on the motor, or do I remove the tube as well to maybe re-use on my next motor. Not sure what my next motor will be, but more than likely, a similar year,50-55hp Johnson or Evinrude, but it all depends on whats available in my budget. Good OMC motors get snapped up pretty quik around here, so may have to go with maybe a Merc, Yamaha, etc. Is the rod, and/or the tube, interchangeable between different outboard brands, or just OMC motors, if just OMC, will it fit a similar year, but lower hp? (50-55hp). Thanks

sell the connector unless your sure you can use it on your next motor, those connectors are relatively motor specific, tube usually goes with the motor.

so by connector, do you mean the arm that I have to take off in order to slide the rod thru the tube? Thanks

If you take the tilt tube off the motor what will hold the motor to the clamp? Leave it, it's part of the whole motor. As said above, include the steering arm.
