Steering play

My 2002 sx drive seems to have a bit of play in the steering. Supposedly the steering line was replaced a year ago before I purchased it. How much is to much and how do I adjust or tighten it up?
Thanks.

Take a close look at the power steering hydraulic ram - I get a bit of a thud feeling in my steering when changing direction and there's some slop in the joint where the ram connects. Doesn't happen when the engine's off (and hence the power steering), so it might be worth doing that test.

Haven't looked at it too closely, but I don't think it's really fixable without quite a bit of work, though.
