I have a 17' Runabout with a 88hp outboard and teleflex steering. When I accelerate the steering pulls to the right until it gets on a plane. Can this be adjusted with the tab underneath the cavitation plate?

Thanks in advance.....

Re: Steering Pulls to the Right

On my Mercuiser I/O, I corrected a pull by moving the rear of the anode SLIGHTLY in the direction it pulled. Took very little adjustment to compensate, so go easy.

Yes, but be sure the skeg..the lowest part of the drive unit is not bent. Sometimes it is hard to see...and a small bend will pull a lot. Also prop thrust can cause pulling...is it ok on plane?

It's fine on plane. Is the anode your talking about the fin under the cavitation plate?

Yep. that's the one. I know nothing about outboards, but on my I/O there is a fin that hangs down from the anti cavitation plate. Above that is a small plastic plug that will pop out, and you can stick an allen wrench (in my case 3/8") down there and loosen the cap screw. What the layout is on your OB I don't know, but there is probably some similar setup. A very small change results produces a very large effect.

So..if the boat pulls to the right I should adjust the rear portion of the anode to the same direction?
