Hi all, I have a Grady White with a 225 evinrude. My steering cable recently broke and I have a couple of questions.

Can I put the new cable back in without removing the motor? The reason I ask is because we had to slightly slightly bend the old to get the right angle to remove. If I do this with the new one will this cause an issue?

Once the new cable is installed and needs to feed through the helm unit......can I feed it or will i have to take it apart and feed the cable in?

Any advice is appreciated!!!

If it won't go through without bending, you need to lift the motor off the transom. You don't have to disconnect everything, just unbolt it and pick it up. Obviously, you need a hoist.

Putting it in the helm depends....
