I can't get enough effect from the steering trim on my 1989 Mercury 90. I have turned it as far as it will go but the steering still pulls to the right. Are trim tads with a larger surface area available?

Re: Steering Trim

which way are you turning the torque tab, right if it pulls right right, have you thought about a no feed back helm, if you nicrease the tab, interferance with the prop is likely

Re: Steering Trim

I turned it the right way. When I first used the boat tab was set dead straight and the pull to the right was really severe and it was pulling the boat over to the left. Both problems have been virually eliminated but it still pulls to the right slightly and gets stuck on it's left side occaisionally. Although I think the latter may have something to do with chine walking. Trimming the bow up does seem to reduce it but then the boat doesn't cut in well when I turn the wheel.

If the boat is a flat bottom then you will have to slow down or drop the trim to make good turns.

Trimming the motor up is a good way to eliminate torque steer, and bow steer..

Are you running at WOT when you try and turn?
