steering wanders aroud

I have a 2001 Bayliner capri 185 with a 4.3 it has power steering at low speeds it wanders around once your up to speed it seems fine any ideas guys i figured i ask here first it may save me several hours of huting for the problem Thanks

Only solution is trim tabs deployed in the full down position. Other than that, lots of small corrections. Welcome aboard!

second question when i took the motor apart it had steel not marine head gaskets and had been run in the ocean but flushed every day at the end of each days use is this normal as there was not signs of rust or head gasket damage

After having outboards and now having my first, I/O. I thought this was strange too. the outboard acts as a rudder, making it easier to steer. this wandering is normal.

I asked about this same thing a few months ago and ended up getting Smart Tabs. They made a *huge* improvement in low-speed wander. They also helped with hole-shot quite a bit. I'm still fiddling with them for the perfect setting, but they were worth every penny.

iBoats has "Factory Blemish" kits at a discount. Their statement about not being able to find the blemish is correct (at least on mine):
