Just bought a 1994 invader reef runner with a 90 HP 1995 Evinrude Ocean pro. The steering wheel is upside down when travelling straight. I removed the wheel expecting to be able to turn 180 degrees. The wheel has two slots 120 degrees apart - so it looks like the adjustment must be made in the rack or on the motor???.

Can anyone tell me the right way to get the steering wheel right side up - what do I need to adjust and how? Thanks in advance.

It is a round wheel that steers your boat. The spokes on that wheel have nothing to do with the direction you are going. With alot of anal trial and error you can make that steering cable and helm line up to perfect .Why bother?

Thanks for the replies. Problem is that it is a 3 spoke wheel and when travelling straight the center spoke blocks my view of the gauges. Probably best to get a wheel that is more symmetric.

18' inboard jet so prone to changing direction on its own that where wheel spokes were had no bearing on direction boat is going. the destroyer style wheel is definitely helping me maintain my sanity and spokes are thin enough they don't block veiw of panel.
