Step N Trim

I just picked up a set for my Deep C. Question since the whole bottom of the boat is rounded in the back when I install the plate to the transom to I install the tabs level or follow the angle of the edge?

No Title

Round edge vs straight edge do you try to follow the curve or mount the tabs straight?

Water comes off the transom at the angle of the hull.

Mount the bottom of the tab flush to the plane of the hull bottom +/-.

FYI, you'll get more input posting questions in the restoration and building forum rather then down here in the basement in a brand specific forum.

Most of the questions and topics you've posted arent necessarily Alumacraft specific.

If you prefer here, thats ok. If you want any topics moved, just ask any Mod and they can move any topics to whatever forum you'd like them moved to.

I am working on a Alumacraft Deep C, I bought some step and trim tabs for it to correct for the list caused by weight distribution etc. It is a vintage boat so it was important to use a vintage product rather than modern tabs. My question is two fold. The hull is a curved where it meets the transom yet the trim tabs are squared, do I install the tabs level on the transom or try to follow the curve? Second question going thru an aluminum hull with screws to mount to a need a reinforcing plate on the inner side of the transom?

Follow the curve the best that you can on the transom. I would absolutely use a reinforcing plate on aluminum, and remember to not use steel screws, always stainless
