Hi,

Quick question, just installing a stern drive, should the cavitation plate be flush with the bottom of the hull, or just below or above ?

regards in advance

Ayuh,.... Yer just cuttin' the hole in the transom, to mount a sterndrive,..?? What sterndrive,..??

The rule of thumb is even with the keel line/ transom....

I tend to go Slightly above that, hopin' to gain efficiency, without loosin' thrust...

Re: Stern drive install

hi,

its a bit of a project, got a 5.4 meter rib, happen to have a Volvo pents AQ130 lying around, and dropped onto the original Yanmar stern drive ( you got to love flea bay ) that the boat builder used in tests when making a inboard version for the Navy, so after aquiring said drive for a ultra low price, thought why not.

The Yanmar install book states between 0 and 30 mm above or below keel, hence reason for asking what others do or have got,
I was going to try 20 mm above, as thats where my old outboard was placed.
