might have stumbled onto a pretty good deal on a used pre-alpha complete sterndrive. Only question is when I had the SEI put on (#106) the guy also changed the bell housing to an alpha. That should not affect anything should it?

Alpha (not alpha gen 2) and MC are interswappable.

Got them.

Two complete drives for $400. He bought rotten, but running boats to drop the blocks into another project he has. He's getting out of the old boat business so my lucky day. Had a friend in Alabama pick them up for me and she's not a boater but said the look fine, as they do in the pics.

Looks like after a three year nap I'll be waking the girl up this spring, with a spare for the next 2x10 disaster.

well, got the kind in the garage. Look good, need to build a stand for the second one.
All gears look good, no rust on splines, spin freely, minimal corrosion on one, almost none on the other, skegs 90% or better remaining.

I'll be getting all new gaskets and such so will be asking questions on a new thread closer to spring. I think I'm going to tackle this one myself.
