On a boat like this with a Stringer ... and as much work as this will require ... you need to do a gut check.

I like the Stringer drive, but it's an antique and it can be finicky. You'll have a lot of work and some significant expense to get it where it needs to be. You'll have to do that because A) you want to and B) you like the boat that much. You won't overcome the expense in value. And there's a good chance you can find a replacement boat in better condition for the same amount of money.

You may want to do some shopping around before you commit to tearing into her.
