I have an older (early 70's) fiberglass boat that is missing the lens for the stern light. Any idea where I can find one of these?

If you know the manufacturer's make and model number, you may be able to contact them for a repair part. They are not usually replacement items stocked in general marine catalogs. Perko is one of the more common oem suppliers and their current catalog shows replacement lenses for current production. But would one fit a 40 year old model?

Last time I neded one I just bought a new pole. Just buy one with the same diameter.

Yea, that can be a tough thing to find. My 1971 boat came with a broken lens and I searched for quite awhile looking for a replacement without any luck. No name or mfr # at all on the lens or housing. One day I stumbled across a fleamarket like marine supply shop that had all sorts of older bits and pieces. I found two identical lenses for $1.00 each. I then proceeded to accidentally knock one off and into the lake and am now using the spare. When that's gone, I'll be replacing the whole light assy with an LED type.

"Stern light for an early '70s boat may be a bit vague."

It will probably be easier replacing the entire assembly, though.
I like the LEDs, also.

fwiw, i lost the lens on my stern light too. mine was a perko all around light on a pole. i thought i'd be hip to just the lens since perko is still around. wrong. nla for my '75 perko lens cover. i R&R'ed the whole thing in the end. it worked out well enough in my case. a new one wasn't much different looking that the old one. looks ok, just not the one the boat came with..
