HELP needed.
1985, johnson 70hp, tilt/trim motor still works, from the control handle. I purchased a 2-button switch (bass pro shop) to mount on the stearn - to help with putting the transom saver on the motor when taking the boat out of the water. pretty simple instructions - except for one thing. there is no purple power wire in the harness going to the motor. So, I ran the purple wire directly to the battery - no results. it does not work. Tried my volt meter on the switch - everything checks out.
I've been doing trailer wiring and connectors since I was a young un, and all of my own boat wiring for 20 years. This one has me confused and MAD

Re: Stern mounted tilt/trim switch

You should have a black box with your trim relays in it on the engine. Tie your purple to hot inside box. You can also tie it grn & blu inside to ,makes a nice neat clean install..

Re: Stern mounted tilt/trim switch

looks like a fuse box on top of the motor. I looked under the cover of the box, but i'm not sure i tried anything under there.
thanks for the tip.
