Sterndrive sealant and lubricant replacements

I have a 302STHRCNG drive. First, is this an electric shift drive? Understand for those that the lubricant changeout for those must match exactly.

Getting ready to pull the drive to replace waterpump and possibly waterpump shaft. OMC manual calls for the following sealant and lubricant replacements:

OMC Triple-Guard Grease
OMC Hi-Vis Gearcase Lube
OMC Extreme Pressure Grease
OMC Gasket Sealing Compound
OMC Locquic Primer
OMC Nut Lock
OMC Scew Lock
OMC Ultra Lock

Can someone recommend appropriate equivalents for each of these?

I want to make sure I am not short changing my drive with cheap replacements but also do not want to pay a premium for brand names if they are not necessarily better quality.

Thanks as always for your time,
Keith

302STHRCNG is a 1982 so no, not electric shift. Your drive is mechanical (cable) shift. 80W90 Marine Gear lube from any brand will be fine in all 4 drive compartments (Intermediate, Upper, Lower, Tilt Clutch) to keep your fluids simple.

Grease- just look for a hydro-activated or high tack grease. If going to the marina to shop - Mercruiser spline grease will be good. Castrol Pyroplex blue is a good industrial grease under water.

Primer = brake clean
anything with Lock in it can be blue Loctite -avoid red loctite on aluminum.

Sealing compound - Permatex (non hardening) or any good automotive RTV (I like Permatex Copper - not sure why it works so well under water - that's not really what it's for)

Re: Sterndrive sealant and lubricant replacements

That is great information to have. I've been wondering the same thing about replacement sealant and lubricants. Thanks for the info.
