Sterss/Spider cracks?

I own a 91 Pursuit 2550. Today i had to change out a ball valve in the bilge. When I was in there I noticed stress cracks around the thru hull fitting. They extended about 3-4 inches around the fitting, lenght wise front to back. Also when i got under the boat to take out the fitting to reseal it the same stress cracks where on the underside(outside) the hull. Could they have tightened the fitting to hard and cause the cracks. Is it something I should be worried about. Also when I took out the thru hull fitting I looked at the hole in the hull and it was perfect, nothing was wrong with the fiberglass at the hole.

Thanks

Re: Sterss/Spider cracks?

Upon futher inspection of the bottom hull I found 3 other areas with stress cracks. Is this something I should be worried about. Should I just repair it and forget about it. This is my second boat and sometimes I get a little parinoid about things like this.

thanks

you don't want water getting in there and causing a blister.

Re: Sterss/Spider cracks?

i found stress cracks that leaked on my transom. the cracks were under the exhaust openings, right before the transom tucked to the hull bottom. there was no plywood behind the fiberglass there and the glass was thin. i had thought i had leaking exhaust pipes for the longest time too. i only found out by taking my deck-less hull to the ramp and dunking the trailer, glad i did that.

my boat was obviously taking on water though, bilge pump ran every 15 mins.

Try to post some pics, it will be easier to tell if they're something you need to be conceren about.
