stiff pivot tube Seadrive...

I have a stiff pivot tube on a 1985 sea drive. I noticed there is only one grease fitting near the lower part of the pivot, but none at the top. I have disconnected the steering cable and find the motor is very hard ot move. Grease comes out the bottom but not the top, where, I suspect it is clogged with old grease and salt. Can anyone help?

You might try some heat.

I was going to try that, from reading other posts, but I wonder if there is another grease fitting? Just one near the bottom seems funny. If not, could I ndrill and tap another near the top in the same position as the bottom? Thanks.
