New to me boat has a stiff throttle. Seller told me dealer said it was normal on this boat and motor. Doesn't
sound right to me. Anyway I opened up 703 remote and fooled with tension adj. and no change. Was this just a poor setup by dealer or is there another adj. somewhere?
thanks

Good chance the bind is in the cable itself. Welcome to the world of corrosion.

Boat is a saltwater boat but is 2005 so I wouldn't suspect corroded cables already. But hey who knows. I was thinking of trying to disconnect cables at motor and making sure engine portion works ok and see if cable action feels stiff while disconnected.

Re: stiff throttle on Yam F115

Just in the off chance anybody is listening, I disconnected throttle cable from throttle adjust on motor and it still felt stiff at the 704 CB. I was just moving throttle not gears. Actually moving the throttle on the motor is pretty stiff also at least compared to carb engines.
I started to look closer at 704 cb, I had previously tried to adjust throttle cable tension with the two screws on top of CB that had locknuts. No change so I sort of assumed cable was prob. I found screw at lower front of CB that moved a little as I moved throttle. Gotcha- that screw is the cable adjust screw, not the ones with locknuts.
Throttle now moves easily, yet to try on water but right now feels much better.
