stiff throttle shift cable...................

hi everyone..... new to this forum and hoping for some answers from some of you more experienced boaters. i have a 1988 chris craft 21 ft scorpion cuddy with a 5.7 260 hp motor. i find that recently my shifter throttle cable is a bit stiff expecially into reverse. it shifts and throttles o.k. but seems to be getting a little worse any thoughts

Time to replace it or atleast find out why its getting tighter and sticking. pull the drive and check those components first.
