I have the new style pitot tube that is inside the lower unit (Alpha 1) and recently cleaned out the wood shavings from when I ran over a log. Thought I got it cleaned out and I even blew air back thru it. I ran the boat yesterday and no gage reading. What else can I do to get it cleaned out? The gage use to register ok until I hit the log and changed the prop. I tried a thin wire but not sure of the routing and where exactly it should go thru so I stopped.
Please advise on what more I can do, thanks for any help you can offer.

You might want to check the pressure tube with boat on the trailer and the drive down to be sure it's not getting pinched somewhere. That's what happened to mine.
I was blowing compressed air thru the tube with the drive up, no problem. But when I was on the water I still wasn't getting an reading on the speedo. I finally realized that when I put the drive down, the pressure tube going from the drive thru the transom was getting pinched. I repositioned it - problem solved!

Good luck.

Did you blow air through both sections of the tube? From the gauge to the connector under the drive, and from the connector to the input on the leading edge of the drive.

Re: Still no MPH gage reading???

A couple of years ago I got tired of constantly having to clean leaves and stuff out the tube to get the speedo to work on my alpha so I just decided to not pay attention to it anymore. Mine hasn't worked for three years now and I've never missed it. A speedo on the lake isn't really of much use since there aren't any speed limits. One less thing to worry about.
