I have a new to me 2008 Stingray 185ls and the chrome cover for the vented fuel cap fell off leaving the threaded center threaded into the filler neck. It still threads on by hand but the vent hole in the center is now open to water and debris. 2 dealers said that this cap is no longer available and I was wondering if any other Stingray owners ever had to replace their cap and what did they replace it with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's what I thought but OD of my cap threads is 1 5/8". There are replacement caps in this size but none are vented caps. If I put a non vented one on, the boat will starve for fuel or possibly collapse my tank. I've been all over the internet trying to find one and I think I'm just going to have to keep the plastic half of mine and make up some kind of cover that keeps stuff out but lets air in. Who would have thought that finding a simple replacement gas cap would be this hard. I guess no one is making them now that the EPA requires fuel tank gases to be collected in a canister and they are pretty much forcing older boats to go to non vented caps since this is the law since 2011.

You can replace the whole fill with one of a vented type. There are several in the link previously posted. They are in black, white and chrome. If your wanting to find one exactly like what was there you need to post a pic with measurements. They maybe someone will try and find what your looking for
