I currently have a 2000 190 LS and I’d like to convert the back end to the lx sundeck style with the 3 rear seats and 2 middle seats. I can accomplish part of that but what i don’t know is what i need to make the rear deck. Does anyone have suggestions on the best route to accomplish this?

Im not really the one to speak here but I did check the differences between the LS and the LX. I see one has a sun deck with a bench seat and two forward facing captains chairs, the LS does not. It looks like a lot of work and unless your a wood worker and can do upholstery it would be completely out of my wheel house but maybe your more capable than I, lol.

I have the 198lx and can say from experience if I have three (or four) in the back with two sitting in the captains chairs and a few in the bow... it is a dog to get out of the water (and I think I have more horse power than you, 190hp)

I think we have the same horsepower. I don’t have the factory propeller, I have a 4blade 19T so it get going rather quickly. TopSpeed is about 45ish according to the speedo. Next time in out I’ll GPS it. But I’m mostly interested in the sundeck for when I’m anchored out at party cove.

It would be a custom job. For a 20 year old boat, the mods would cost more than the boat is worth, thus not cost effective. Trade her in for a boat that you really want.

the conversion is done in 3 easy steps:

sell what you have for small pile of cash
empty wallet and bank account onto pile to make pile bigger
take medium pile of cash and buy what you want.

With just me in the boat I can hit 54 on the GPS, love it, my prop is an SS 24 inch prop. I use the swim platform more than the sun deck but the deck is nice and I do like the layout. Two captains chairs and a bench seat for the back, I can't see that as a pile of cash but these guys likely know more than I. I bought this boat brand new as I got tired of fixing my old boat (it did not work out that way but that was the plan).

We're talking about a20 yr old boat that had a design life of 15 years. Might I humbly suggest that instead of putting money into this boat, which may have other issues lurking, to sell it off and buy something with the configuration you are searching for?

IF you're in the northern part of the US, or even the great white north, now would be the time to start looking at marinas that have leftover stock as they're probably getting in next year's models.

The issue I run into is that the boat is in Amazing Shape. I have seen 5yr old boats that look worse off than mine. I bought this boat from a family friend for $4k and to replace it with some that I want would cost a lot more than the small investment to add a sundeck if that’s was possible.

Your boat must be among the quickest 4.3 out there, in that class. Fast hulls stingray. Great going there.
there is one in my marina with a 4.3 4 barrel. It gave my boat a fright. I’m sure I clocked it at about 55/56 sitting next to him to see what he was doing. Amazing for a 4.3.

That speed was just me in the boat, wind at my back and half a tank of gas, lol. On any day I can do 52-53 MPH. The next motor up from mine was the 4.3 MPI at 220 hp and will do 57, or so they say..

It is a fast boat and puts a grin on my face every time.
