Ok guys. I cant see the plate that shows the max HP for my boat. So I looked online and found this calculation

(Boat length X Beam X 2) -90 = Max HP

So put in my boat: '86 sea ray monocot 207 (20')

(20X8X2)-90=230HP

The stock 5.7 (which I'm replacing due to a cracked block) is 260hp..

Is this correct? Should I worry that even a stock replacement motor will violate my insurance?
Should I decide to get a '97 engine that puts out more power than stock will be a problem?

Don't know if we have any insurance adjusters here, but I would take it to my insurance agent and ask the question. I'm guessing he/she will have no issue with it.

If you looked at that calculation from the originating place, which is the USCG home builders handbook, you would find Inboards and I/O's are exempt from HP restrictions.. Zero issues here
