So I currently serve in the Military and went to a friends house last night and come back to find my room had been broken into and someone had stolen my brand new iPad. It really makes me worry what this world is coming to if you can't even trust your united states military. Nothing else was stolen just my iPad. I contacted the base police and of course that said there is nothing they can really do. I use my iPad as a chart plotter and to keep a log of all hours out on the boat in maintenance and everything else. What is wrong with people these days.

Just last week 3 young scum-balls here in upstate S.C. broke in a guy's house and stole his ipad....the police used his cell phone to trace the ipad directly to the 3 scum-balls...within 2 hours!.....maybe check with some computer geek(anyone who knows more than I do about computers) to see if yours has that tracing feature?....Good Luck!

Around my neck of the woods, they steal them and turn them off so you can't use "Find my iPhone or iPad". It only works if it's on and connected to the internet or has tracking turned on.

5 finger discount has been around forever. Just seems to be more prevalent these days. Why work for something when it's easier to steal it......

Google: "Spartanburg police track stolen ipad to burglary suspects"....It's doubtful these yo-yo's had enough sense or brains to turn it off...they had them in custody in 2 hours!...give it a try!;)

Re: Stolen iPad!

I do have the find my iPhone app on my iPad but the iPad is currently shut off as soon as its turned on I will receive and email then I will contact the MPs and they and I will track it back to its location and arrest them. Part of my almost feels sorry for the guy who stole it because when it is located he will be charge with felony theft and breaking and entering he will loose his clearance and be separated with an other the honorable discharge. The culprit really screwed his life up good for $700 bucks.

Well, it was his choice to do this, and if he's not caught this time he'll continue until he's caught or somebody puts a bullet in him!...so you may be doing him a favor...or saving his stupid, thieving life!...Man!, I hate thieves!

You have a password set up on your ipad when you first log in?

I know there are jailbreak apps that you can set up so that it takes a picture of the perp and emails you the GPS coordinates when a wrong password is entered.

I was in the USAF, 26 years ago. One of the very first tasks, they train you to do is, how to properly work a padlock - for obvious reason.

Unfortunately, it was probably someone you know well.

You must live in the barracks. When i was in the barracks in the 70's you could count on someone knowing when anything happened and who did it. Ask enough questions and keep your ear to the rumor mill and i'm sure you will find out who ripped you off. Good luck
