I have a 55lb. thrust MK Powerdrive. I was using the motor to pull the boat from one side of a very small lake to the other. I was running the motor at it's highest setting. The motor would lose all power. The power gauge on the trolling motor would show no power. After about 1-2 minutes it would start back up. This happened about three times during a 10 minute trip across this lake. No problems while running at slower speeds.
It's an older Minnkota. But no problems before this trip. Do I have any worries?
The trolling motor is pulling a 1969 Starcraft. There's a little weight for it to pull.
For the curious. I didn't use my gas engine because it was very early and I was on an urban small lake. Under 350 acres.

As always thanks for your input.

Re: Stops dead

I would guess that it has an auto-resetting breaker (probably thermal) and this is tripping after some period of full power.
