I recently bought a 26 foot Larson in Green Bay Wisconsin. The dealer is storing it now. When it comes time to store it next fall should I store it outside or inside. Both options are available here. I cannot store it in my driveway. I have to pay someone to store it. Should I pay the extra money for inside storage or is outside ok? I also have two waverunners.

Re: Storage question

If you leave it outside, make sure you have it shrink wrapped.

But indoor storage will save you cost of the shrinkwrap, and will provide more protection from the elements. It will also allow you to access the boat during the storage period.

But thats a long time away.
You should be more worried about your summer boating schedule.

Like the July 7th weekend. A number of us are having the second annual iboats Wisconsin get together. Check out the link below, and feel free to jump in and ask any questions you may have.

Happy boating.

Re: Storage question

if it is not a heated storage facility be sure to winterize. engine and holding tanks. inside is always a better option. i would still cover the boat. makes spring much easier.

Re: Storage question

There are a couple types of inside storage. Those with birds, rats, mice, cats, and other things that can get into your boat. Then there is secure storage where this is not as serious an issue. Either way, put some moth balls in the boat, a couple packs of Decon and then cover it. If they get into the building, birds will really decorate the interior of your boat.

Re: Storage question

Good advice Silvertip - the critters can do incredible damage over the winter - and most newbees don't even think about it. Like you said - mothballs, Decon AND the small pails of moisture absorption stuff - and I always add a couple of those hanging bee strips - yellow jackets and wasps can build a huge nest in a few weeks of warm weather under a cover......
