Hi all, I've read that you're supposed to store the outdrive of an I/O in the fully down position. However, because of where I keep my boat, I'm only able to store it about 2/3 of the way down. Should I leave it like that, partially down? Or should I just put it up all the way?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Re: storing Alpha One

Couple issues here...

Nearly all the water in the outdrive will drain out in the down position. You run risk of freeze damage if you don't allow water to drain.

Secondly, you place less stress on the u-joint bellows with the outdrive all the way down. The further up the outdrive is raised...the greater the bellow's are stretched...

Hope this helps...

Walt

At the very least, leave it down long enough for all the water to drain out before you store it. Then get it as far down as you can. I've found that Armorall helps keep the bellows supple and longer lasting, also.
