i have started a new project and am gathering 'junk'

i have 3 motors i want to store upright in a way i could try repairing them.
they are 50 & 60hp and weigh up to 300lbs i think.

i have managed to lay my engines onto old tires and drag them around, and have also used a wheelbarrow, and have wrestled them into a plastic 55 gallon barrel

does anyone have an ingenious system i could setup for myself?

(i am working under a carport and the side yard on dirt, if that helps with ideas. also, i do not have a welder, just wood tools and wrenches.)

A stout 2X6 or 2X8 between two strong uprights makes a nice hanger/platform for working on larger motors. Search the forum for "motor stands" and you'll get some interesting photos of home-made stands on casters/wheels. A stout overhead beam, and winch or come-along makes lifting them much easier.

thanks for the tips.

i am going to use a swingset, and a 10" wheel hub and small hand pulley block to move the engine from the stand to the boat.

i didn't realize small frames from 2x4's and 2x8's were strong enough. and i will use screws.
