stotor to flywheel interference

Hi,
I have rebuilt the power head on my 1983 60hp 2 cyl and have it all reassembled besides the stator and flywheel. Every time I put the flywheel on, and tighten it down, the engine locks up and the stator cannot be rotated under the flywheel. I have looked at a parts explosion and everything looks correct however it locks up. Has this happened to anyone else?? If so what was the problem? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you missed a spacer or similar

I was just looking at the diagram and I think I know what I have done wrong took. it just clicked and I figured it out. I think the bottom spacer must go in between the plate and stator assembly. Guess I should not have left it apart since September?
