Strange alarm pattern

Hello guys,

my boat was running fine up until today. I turned on the boat and warmed it up, left the marina and got to the sand bar. After a few hours, I turned on the boat, left to a restaurant and when I got there I got a beep beep beep beep constantly while in idle. I turned off the boat went to have dinner and after like an hour I came back switched the key to the on position and got the regular beep. After like 45 seconds the constant alarm started again.

Everything seemed fine and engine was working properly, so I left to the marina. After like 5 minutes cruising through the river the alarm stopped and then it sounded again when I got to the marina and the boat was idling.

Once on the trailer, I hooked it up to the hose and started the engine again with the alarm. Again, after like 5 minutes running with the constant beep beep beep beep it stopped.

Any ideas as to why this is happening now??

I have heard about the 2 beep every minute or the steady beep but never this one.

Pretty ballsy move to continue your day when you've got an alarm going off!!

Does you're outdrive have a fluid reservoir? If so, check and see if it's low.

Agreed.. those reserviors have a sensor on them, and if the gear lube is far enough below the fill line (even an inch or 2) then the alarm will sound. This happened on my uncle's Fountain.

Get a hold of your shop manual, it will give you a list of items to test, any one of which could trip your alarm. Hopefully its nothing big and you will be on your way shortly!

Thanks guys. I'll check for that. I thought the fluid reservoir gave a 2 beep alarm every minute or so but I'll still check for that.

Also, the only reason that made me continue was that everything seemed fine (temp, Oil, water pressure on hoses, etc) and I was close to the marina so....
