I have a 1985 evinrude 150 HP. Im having engine troubles right now and it wont start but i already have another thread on that but the last few times ive ran it ive noticed a black oil like substance leaking down from where the lower unit area attaches to the bottom of the motor. It looks like the engine oil you would drain out of a car after 3000 miles. But i run premix and the oil burns with the gas so i know its not that. Any thoughts on what it could be?

That is just exhaust stuff. If you don't have water in your lower unit this is normal. Just a leaking seal and shouldn't hurt anything unless like I said you have water in there. Take out your lower drain plug and see if any water or milky looking oil comes out.

Also, is there a way to clean all that out? If its that black and thick id be afraid to see what the inside looks like.

That engine has a thru hub exhaust so I wouldn't worry about any buildup on the inside. You can use laquer thinner or engine degreaser to take it off the outside. You said you posted your other engine problems on another thread. I'm sure that someone has tried to help you. Did what they suggested not work? Attach a link to your other thread on this one and I will take a peek at it.
