The problem is on an 89 Forrester with a Johnson V-4 90 HP Outboard.<br />I am hearing a beeping type of sound, I could best describe as a horn that is out of tune, coming from the OMC throttle control box. There is a definite vibration on the throttle control when the noise is heard. I've never heard this before (just got this boat a few weeks ago). It sounds every couple of minutes for a very short time - less than 1 second. Cou8ld it be an alarm for the oil tank? If not - any ideas as to what it is?

There is an overheat and low oil level/pressure alarm in my remote control box. I've never heard it and I hope I never do. By your explanation it sounds like your alarm is sounding.

G'day. The alarm is for an oil injection problem. Top up the oil in the oil tank. Put enough oil in your fuel tank to make 50:1 and test rin the engine, Pump the primer on the oil tank while the motor is running. If the buzzer still sounde after this then you have a problem with the VRO. Consider having it removed.
