strange noise

I have a 3.7L Mercruiser with an alpha one outdrive. When the engine is running, I am getting a noise that is comming from the back side of the motor. I can see the shaft from the motor to the outdrive and it looks to be vibrating some when I get this noise and it kinda sounds like maybe there is a bearing that is worn out. Is there a bearing that I can inspect without removing the entire outdrive? Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks, Dan

Nope,... But,.. There's only 8 nuts between you,+ the Gimbel bearing...
Pull the drive,+ you'll see it...

You will also want to check the U-Joints and make sure you are not starting or running the engine with the outdrive up. It should be all the way down. I may the mistake yesterday trying to start the boat with the outdrive up hated sound. The U-Joints should move around freely and not bind up or have rust on them. If any doubt get a new set of eBay for $23. Also check for bellows leaking.
