1998 Sea Ray Bow Rider with an Alpha 1, Gen II outdrive. Two weeks ago I started it for the first time this season. Engine ran perfectly, but the outdrive would trim up, but not down. The pump ran but the outdrive would not go down. Same thing from the throttle and trailer switch. Pump runs in both directions but no trim down. So, out of curiosity I switched the lines at the pump and the outdrive then trims up AND down. "Something was stuck" I say to myself and leave the lines like that. This weekend I came back with a new stainless mounting bracket for the assembly. When I replaced the mounting bracket I put the lines back to the proper spots and the same thing happens again. It will trim up, but not down. I switch the lines again and it goes back to working up and down. Something wrong with the pump? The boat hardley ever gets used and I know that can be a problem. Only 152 hours on the engine.
