In the same vane as strange lake names, I've run across some unusual road signs such as -Zyzzyx Rd.- and Six Mile Village -- Three miles. I have pics but no computer skills to post them.
I've always wondered how you are supposed to pronounce that name?
Google says it either; "zazks" or "zy-zicks" or "zaɪzɨks" or " zəˈzɪzɪks" or "zə-ZIZ-iks" or "ziz-icks"
I always thought it was strange traveling down the interstate, in the middle of no where, and coming across an exit called "Ranch Exit". Then 30 miles later there's another Ranch Exit. I just imagine someone calling to Highway Patrol or tow truck saying "I'm at Ranch Exit"....
When I lived in Hawaii, we had very few road signs, but we did get directions like this: Go three miles south of Kailua on ALII drive, then at the big white rock on the right hand side, take a left, go a few hundred yards and take a right at the very large Coconut tree, then go slowly and keep an eye out for the pile of lava rocks on the right!
