I'm in process of moving a 1982 70HP Evinrude from a 16" Crestliner vintage 70's to a 17" 1968 Glasply, replacing a 1980 40 HP suzuki. The glasply is in good shape, constantly garaged, no gelcoat cracks or issues. A well meaning friend interjected that the older boat was not meant to hold that much HP or weight. both boats have 2' wide transom, both are short shaft....
