This ones a long shot and im pretty sure I'm SOL . I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to shrink a stretched boat cover back after its been stretched by a pocket of rain water

I bought a boat cover from wally world a few months ago and had to park my boat away from my home and couldnt keep an eye on it daily.

After about a week of heavy rains I got a chance to check up on it and discovered I had a swimming pool liner in my boat. I drained the pool and made a skeleton frame to out of 1' pvc pipe to help keep it from happening again. There is a small section that is stretched in the middle from the pool in the boat.

The cover is a 150 denier pvc material I believe . I was just wondering if anyone had a method to help get the streched part back .I am pretty sure theres no way it can be done but thought what the heck and see if someone knows of a way.

Spray it down with some water, put it on the boat and leave it sit outside on a sunny day.

Re: stretched boat cover

Thanks for the info I like the fold and stich it idea .I didnt think of that. I may also add webbing strap for an extra place to pull it taught.

Only problem with the sunny day idea is the sun doesnt shine to much here until summer, but getting a stetched cover straight isnt high on my list of prioritys right now on the boat,so I may try that before I get around to being able to fold and stich up the stretched part.

thanks for the suggestions

Re: stretched boat cover

It should shrink back over time but I suggest to get some vent post caps allong with positive locking telescopic posts. The low cost universal covers usiulay wil flop in the wind and lose the posts otherwise and it will happen again the adjustable posts can compensate for the streched out areas until it shrinks back up. How long it takes will depend on that type of fabric your cover is made of.
