Why are the motor mounts different for the 3.0 400 stringer? The 2.5, 3.8, 5.0 and 5.7 use a rubber mount and the 3.0 uses a different metal rubber combination. I have a 3.0 and one of the mounts is broken and you CAN'T find new ones. I also have mounts for a 3.8, can I USE THE 3.8 MOUNTS ON A 3.0?

Seems it would all be a matter of dimensions? How did you break a motor mount? Are the ear mounts off the intermediate housing ok?

My '75 302 IH has ears/arms as part of the IH casting. Then there is a 'claw foot' kind of mount that has a rubber bushing between the two. Pretty simple. I didn't know they had many variations.

wow, that is so weird. The 2.5L uses the rubber and the 3.0 uses the sandwiched rubber/steel combo.. Must have something to do with vibration specific to the 3.0.

I would say use whatever fits properly.

People have swapped a 3.0 in place of a 2.5 for the extra power and I'm sure they never changed the rear mounts. Haven't heard of it being an issue.
