1972 225 electric shift tilt. How can I control down movement. It seems to free fall to fast even if I bump the switch then it hits to hard then gets stuck. Thanks

When borrowing a friends boat with twin OMC Stringers I'm very carefull, when lowering the outdrives. That means tapping the tilt switch 1/10 of a second or so, at a time, until they are down. Anything else is too fast. Holding the switch one second, and the outdrive drops faster than the anchor.

I wonder if an outdrive has ever fallen off, because it was lowered too fast..........

Rich, your clutch pack may be on it's way out. Is this happening in the water, or just when it's on the trailer?

Mine does the same thing.. I was told that's normal and to use the 1/10 second button press method..
So there's a clutch to be fixed eh? :)

@ PG Anderson.. cracking up over your comment :)
