Hello members,
I unfortunately am a new member with a propulsion issue that I have not seen covered in forums yet, here we go. While underway in our 2002 Striper Sea Swirl 2301 W/A, Volvo Penta 5.0 GXI, SX outdrive , we experienced a loss propulsion cruising 23 @ 3100 RPM…loss of forward motion with high RPM rev. We came to a stop and checked for the obvious…throttled up slowly to 1000 RPM with slow forward motion, anything above 1000 RPM, no change in speed… prop spins, maintains 4-6 MPH max with RPM's above 1000. We also have good throttle response in reverse. The boat is now sitting in a service rack at the marina awaiting our return after an evening of interweb searching, drinks and rest. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Propulsionly challenged.

Sounds like the prop's hub is spun.

You can test it by marking across the prop and hub, taking the boat for a spin to get the prop to slip, then check the marks to see if the are still aligned or moved.

A shop can re-hub the prop, or if the prop has a replaceable hub, replace the hub.

Scribe a line like fishrdan suggests. Run it and make it slip and take it off to see if the marks are still aligned.
