Stripped Bolt Anchor

Having a problem with one of the bolts that anchors my outdrive to the intermediate housing. The bolt hole is totally stripped. The bolt finally pulled right out. Is there an easy way to fix this? Is there a 'right' way to fix this?<br /><br />Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on how much metal is available around the stripped out threads, it can be drilled and tapped to the next larger size bolt, or a heilicoil thread insert installed. The heilicoil still requires drilling and tapping. If there is not enough metal there for the above, a threaded rod can be epoxied in the stripped hole and a nut used, or welded in place. <br /><br />My preference would be to drill it and tap to next larger size if possable.

Went the helicoil route and it worked great. Thanks for the info.
