the previous owner of my boat, 88' glasstream tempest152 120hp mercruiser/alpha1 shallacked the sparkle fiberglass....needless to say it's pealing and looking pretty crappy. Any way to strip it off without hurting the gelcoat ?
There are chemical paint strppers made for fiberglass that should not hurt the gel coat. Check with your nearest marine supply place and test in a small area on the bottom.
check www.napierenvironmental.com They developed a line of non toxic benign paint strippers[ doesn't burn your hands, no fumes] that were originally formulated for fiberglass hulls.
