Picked up a 1998 Force 120hp Ob over the weekend for $500. Always owned Merc's. Compression tested the motor before I payed the guy and it had 150 psi on all 4 cyliders....so I payed and loaded it up in the back of a Honda CR-V (wifes car) and took her home and sat it on a stand. Has not started AT ALL in 2 years. I cleaned the carbs, put in a fuel pump diaphram, changed the water pump and slapped some plugs in (cheap plugs).....sprayed some deep creep in the cylinders and intakes. Left it alone for 4 days. Today I went out and mixed a bottle with about 70/30 oil gas mix and sprayed it into the cylinders and intake runners. Waited about 2 hours, wired up a ignition switch, hooked up a gas tank and turned on the water. Primed it up and said to myself.....this is going to take awhile. Bumped the key (about a second) to make sure it worked. Bumped it again AND IT CAME TO LIFE!! Sort of freaked me out how easily it started after 2 years. It shut off a few times then purred like a kitten. I let it run for about a hour on the hose, then shut it off, waited about 2 hours and bumped the key and it purred again. I am running a gas tank with about 35:1 mix right now, then will put it back to 50:1 later. Going out to change the lower oil and put some MGK's in it, then test her after a few more hours of running in the yard. Just really happy with the results of this thing.......thought I would share some good info on the Force, not too many OB brands start like that.

I've had Forces since 88.New when I bought my boat. One of the port motors packs went bad.
Other than that and a head gasket every few years and I've had no trouble with these Forces.
I bought a Mercury 225 EFI 1997.TROUBLE from the start.Ended up selling it for parts.J
